MUCH BETTER

Andre Bretoni kirjutatud raamat “Nadja” seitsmendal leheküljel olev lõik, kus ta seletab sõna “kummitan” taga olevat tähendust, milleks on: “sõna viitab sellele, kes ma olen pidanud lakkama olemast, et saada selleks, kes olen..”. Vastuoluline lause.

There’s a paragraph on the seventh page of André Breton’s “Nadja”, which explains the meaning of the word “to haunt”. The meaning is: “the word refers to who I have ceased to be, to be who I am…” A controversial phrase. To become someone, I need to cease being myself, but this is my own will, to become someone else who I am not. I want to change without having to change. Change is the difference between two conditions of entity.

Liisa Jugapuu: That painting series focuses on the contrast and differences that I fear and try to turn off in my head. I argue with myself to become a better person, but there’s no sign of the better, because, after the better, I still want better.
